Cheers to 11 Years of WoodTrick!
Hey there — it’s WoodTrick’s birthday! 🎉
We’re celebrating 11 years of pure engineering jooooooooooy — eleven years of turning flat wooden sheets into moving, clicking, gear-spinning magic.
So what does 11 years actually mean?
It means 130+ unique models — from fun, fast builds you can finish over a couple of hours to ultra-detailed wooden beasts like our Terrain Titan. It means thousands of hours spent sketching, prototyping, testing, adjusting… and testing one more time. Bold ideas turning into real, working mechanics you can build with your own hands.
But most importantly, it means you — our incredible WoodTrick community! Makers. Tinkerers. Problem-solvers. The kind of people who enjoy the process just as much as the finished piece. We’re truly proud to celebrate this milestone with you.
A Little Throwback Moment
For our birthday, we thought it’d be fun to look back at the top models from each year — a snapshot of how WoodTrick engineering has evolved.
Each one is different.
Each one pushed us further.
Each one is still part of our lineup today.
So… ready to rewind and relive the highlights?
Let’s dive in.
2015: Mill
Fun fact — this wasn’t just the bestseller of its year, it was also our very first 3D wooden model. And yes, 11 years later, the Mill is still going strong in our lineup and still a favorite among builders! So, what’s the secret? Besides being absolutely charming, it’s also the perfect starter project for anyone new to DIY. With 76 pieces and a START complexity level, it’s fun, satisfying, and just the right amount of challenge.
2016: Buggy
This little guy is where our wooden DIY vehicle collection officially began. What started with the Buggy eventually grew into two full series — Modern Machinery and Vintage Machinery. With its sleek, sci-fi-inspired look, this stylish off-roader is a fun addition to any DIY garage. And yes, it actually moves — powered by a rubber band engine, it can drive across your table under its own wooden horsepower.
2017: Plane
This year was packed with great releases, but this beauty took the top spot — by a pretty wide margin. What made it such a hit? Part of it, we’re sure, is the charm. It’s hard not to smile when you see it. But looks aren’t everything. Add in an engaging build, a MASTERS complexity level (4 out of 5), and some seriously clever mechanics — and voilà. You’ve got a fan favorite that still turns heads.
2018: Locomotive R17
Cars? Check. Planes? Check. Now it was time to bring trains into the DIY lineup.
This retro locomotive became one of our first models to reach the maximum PRO complexity level, and it earns every bit of that rating. Don’t let the piece count fool you: with 405 parts, this build is anything but simple. From the first gear to the final detail, it delivers a truly immersive, hands-on experience. So if you’ve been looking for a seriously challenging project… this might just be it.
2019: Gifts from Santa
Meet the start of our Thematic Series — a cute wooden music box that was the very first of its kind. Even today, it’s still a favorite for DIY fans who love a little “Jingle Bells” charm. Yes, we know — summer is around the corner and Christmas might feel a little far off. But guess what makes an amazing gift for the holiday season? That’s right — this little beauty!
2020: Mystery Flower
One of our most charming builds, the Mystery Flower is a musical music box that unfolds into a beautiful flower. It’s a fantastic intermediate-level project — perfect for beginners looking to step up their DIY game, and still engaging for seasoned builders. And just imagine how stunning it looks as a home decoration! So, who’s going to get this beauty? A gift for someone special… or maybe just for yourself? We had a feeling. 🥰
2021: Galaxy Marble Run
No need for long introductions — this one’s a legend. A super challenging, carefully designed build, where tiny marbles dance along perfectly tuned tracks. And the best part? You made it yourself with your own hands — pure DIY satisfaction. By the way, our first 3D wooden marble run was such a hit that we later created two more, Spiral and Gravity, and they’ve both become absolute hits too.
2022: Quad Bike
Another fan favorite from our Machinery series — and the clear standout of its year — this little off-road machine proves that great things come in compact builds. With impressive detailing, a build that’s simple yet seriously fun, and of course a rubber band motor that actually gets it moving, the Quad Bike checks all the boxes of what we love most about DIY projects.
2023: Rescue Firetruck
Oh yes — this one might just be a top-of-all-time contender.
The Rescue Firetruck won builders over so fast that the presale sold out in just a couple of hours. We restocked it 11 times in 2023 alone — and each time it disappeared just as quickly. Detailed, bold, and packed with character, it’s the kind of build that demands a spot in your collection. And if it’s somehow still missing from your shelf… well, you know what to do. 👌🏻
2024: Cyber Hand
Going up against the unique DIY Transformer and the sleek Gravity Marble Run wasn’t easy — but this one pulled it off. So here it is: your Top Favorite of 2024 — the Cyber Hand. Challenging in all the right ways, this build delivers a seriously satisfying assembly and becomes a truly unique piece of home décor. It’s the kind of project that makes people stop and say, “Wait… you built that?” And yes — it doesn’t just sit there looking cool. It can actually do this: 👌 ✌️ 🤟 👍 👋
2025: Grand Traveler 246
Last year was definitely the year of our Vintage Collection — it saw more new releases than ever before. So it’s no surprise that builders fell hard for this stunning retro locomotive. The Grand Traveler 246 brings old-school charm and hands-on engineering together in the best way. So… are you ready to steam ahead on your next DIY adventure? 🚂
2026: Coming Soon
